Mental fitness is just as important as physical fitness. You should therefore also train your brain regularly. This will help your body heal illnesses and injuries faster and learn new things faster. Exercising the brain helps to reassign and reactivate existing neurons and activate new neural connections.
I have three tips for you to activate new brain cells and train your brain.
1. learn a language
Learning a new language is a helpful workout for your brain. It's how you train your synapses to change. The goal does not have to be to master the language perfectly. Just learning the language challenges and stimulates your brain. Language learning is especially beneficial for the left temporal lobe. The human ability to communicate is located in a small area of the left temporal lobe. If you train this area, new connections are created.
2. orientation without navigation
The hippocampus is responsible for our sense of orientation. If you turn off your navigation system and rely on your inner compass, you train the hippocampus. You keep your brain on its toes and train your spatial sense.
3. the non-dominant hand
Everyone, with rare exceptions, has a dominant hand. If you train yourself to do things with the other hand, the cerebral cortex activates neurons that are normally not active. Why don't you eat your dinner tonight with the fork in your other hand? Or brush your teeth with your left hand instead of your right (or vice versa if you are left-handed).
