Private evidence gathering for bullying and neighbour disputes

Private preservation of evidence may seem a logical step for some people affected by bullying. However, the following will shed light on why this approach is somewhat treacherous and not all good.
Private preservation of evidence usually involves (video) recordings that have been made without the knowledge of the other people involved. This method is often used to catch bullies in the act and record them so that they can prove their accusations later.
The problem is that it is not a private recording in which the person filming is surprised by the bullying attack. Instead, it is often a provoked and fictitious attack that only very weakly reflects reality. For this reason, such recordings are rarely admitted in court; the danger is too great that it is not an accurate representation of the bully.
In addition to the modified form, there are of course also those recordings that are completely fake and are therefore not admitted at all. One should be very careful with this, because it is a criminal offence if one creates such a fake oneself and sells this in court etc. as real evidence.
It is true that bullying is a big problem that affects many people and of course there is the problem of conviction, because one is not always surrounded by people who could be witnesses. For this reason, those affected, in their desperation, resort to other methods such as the private preservation of evidence. However, one should be careful not to put oneself on the same level as the bully or even commit a crime.
