  • bullying at school, humiliating experience when I was at the Collège

I had another humiliating experience when I was in 6th grade at the Collège, I was 11 years old.
One lunchtime, when we were walking in rows of two to the canteen (which most of the students attended), the director took me out of the row and lectured me in front of all the students because I was wearing pants (under a skirt or dress, as girls did then to go to school): He forbade me to wear pants, even though in the middle of winter I had to ride my bike 2 km at night in the morning to pick up the school bus, and the same in the evening.
For me, this was humiliating and very unfair, especially since there was a girl in the class who wore pants, not even under a skirt, but she was a doctor's daughter and did not eat in the canteen because she lived near the Collège.
I wondered if the director had chosen that moment not to question her (because she was the doctor's daughter). For me it was also unfair because she didn't have to freeze on the way to the college, she left much later in the morning than I did and only had a few hundred meters to walk. Was he trying to humiliate me because I was a hillbilly's daughter? He knew my situation, after all, because my older brother had started school a year before me and had met my parents.
Once again, I had to keep my mouth shut in front of a non-decent adult.
As a result, my mother went to the market in the nearest town and bought me what she found at the market, an ugly, dark beige pair of grandmother's tights that didn't keep me warm and probably put an unnecessary strain on her budget again....
As I write this, I realize that I hate freezing on my legs and in the winter I wear tights under pants when I go outside.
In sixth grade I realized that I was a "hillbilly" and I vowed that I would show that a hillbilly could be intelligent, and so I was a very good student throughout my school years, the doctor's daughter was far behind me.....
I also realized that I did not choose my profession by chance, by becoming a social worker, which allowed me to defend the "hillbillies", help them, support them, encourage them and give them back their dignity.Where I worked, the farmers were "handicapped" from birth and had difficulties with the authorities because they could not easily deal with the "paperwork".

    I'll stop here for tonight.
Maybe I'll get back to it another day about a colleague who was regularly malicious towards me in my professional environment, fortunately with all the other colleagues the relations were very good, it only takes one to do harm.
