My earliest bad memories date back to when I was about 10 years old.
The first one happened in the yard of the primary school during a recreation: a pupil a little older than me made fun of me because I had patched clothes. Indeed, I wear the clothes that were used by my older sister before me, my parents work on their small farm and are rather poor, we are a sibling of 5 children, our mother is a good seamstress but does not have enough money to clothe us better. Until then, this state of affairs had not really affected me because I was part of the majority of children in this school, it was the minority that was well dressed.
I was aware that my cousins were better dressed than the 5 of us, but in this family setting I never received a glance or a bad word.
Many years later, as I was approaching my 40th birthday, at a reunion of former students of this school, I found this girl and I kindly reminded her of this episode which she did not remember at all....
