How I deal with bullying, bullying in schools nowadays?
Hello!
I have been bullied many times in my life. At school I was confronted with it on a daily basis. I didn't feel like I had a way out. Talk to my parents or the teachers? I was convinced that adults would only make things worse. After all, they were around for the least amount of time and didn't really notice anything. And when there was a "bullying" theme day at school, we were told to shout "STOP" loudly and firmly. That was nothing that helped me, I thought.
Thankfully, I've moved on from that time and unlike what all the adults claimed, I don't wish that time from school back. Everything is better now, no matter how bad it gets sometimes. For me, the big difference is that I am forced to do fewer things. I can choose what I do. I can also change my job if I can't do it anymore. I can also change a course at the university, which would not be so easy at school. Because we don't hang out with each other as much anymore, it's easier to keep a distance from potentially dangerous people.
At the same time, over time I've also managed to network with people who don't do bullying. I now have more people to talk to about my problems. I know institutions as contact persons.
But what about the situation of bullying in schools today? Has anything changed? And if so, what?
