This year it has once again really shredded in our family. I don't know exactly what started it. It could have been the discussion about a nasty tattoo or the TV program. But it doesn't matter now. My brother-in-law suddenly stood by the Christmas tree and held it with one hand. Then he said: should I knock the ....ing thing over now ?
His wife had already enjoyed a few alcoholic drinks, says: yes knock him over. As nasty as it is !
Someone intervened and said: with the cheap gifts we don't need a tree either. A little girl, probably my niece, sitting invisibly under the table, began to sob. The tree became more and more crooked.
Finally, my father, a former teacher, shouted and the class, or rather family, stopped. The meal was taken almost in silence, the mood more icy and the alcohol level increased. Finally came the meaningful phrase: what I always wanted to say....
The dams finally broke. Age-old animosities were reheated and insults and insults hailed down. From the most subtle bullying to the dully brutal pick-up line, everything was included.
The grandpa of Hoppenstetts ( German television) conducted his march and the nuclear power plant for children ended in a mushroom cloud. It sucks and blows the (vacuum cleaner) Heinzelmann....
Television also made its contribution to the family tragedy.
But kids, it's Christmas ! My mother tried to appease. The Christmas tree, shaken, not stirred, suddenly lost a few of its balls. There was probably still a glass ball from the ancient good times. In any case, it burst audibly and gave the signal for another loud dispute. After the adults had talked and scolded each other hotly and furiously, silence returned. Other old stories made the rounds. Do you remember how grandpa drank almost a whole 1 bottle of brandy at Christmas ? Well, he had his 7o revolutions. Who was it ? The brandy or the grandpa ?
Why do so many Christmas family celebrations take place in this way ? Is there not enough war and injustice in the world ? Or is the family a reflection of these events ?
Despite everything - Merry Christmas and a healthy New Year, hopefully without war !
