  • Wegovy, ,Doctor treated me like a dog! Who has experience with the new weight loss drug Wegovy, who can report on the effects, how do doctors behave? #wegovy

First of all, I'm not thrilled with my family doctor. I wanted to be prescribed the new weight loss medication "Wegovy". He simply refused and treated me more or less like a dog! The health insurance doesn't seem to pay for the medication either. On the other hand, there are reports that Wegovy really is an alternative to the usual diets. If this is the case, then my doctor's behavior is really outrageous.
Who has experience with Wegovy. Who would like to be my personal guinea pig and tell me about their experiences? I assume that there are different regulations with the health insurance companies.
What are the effects and side effects?

Wegovy was initially developed as a medication for type 2 diabetes. If you have this disease, then there should be no problem with the prescription. Your doctor's behavior would then be "bullying at its finest".
Wegovy has also been approved in Germany as a weight loss medication (weight loss injection). Unfortunately, I don't know which insurance company pays how much. If you pay for it yourself, it costs between 200 and 300 euros per month.

However, some doctors are reluctant to prescribe the drug for weight loss. They are waiting to see what side effects occur. But the refusal should be friendly. Treating you like a dog because you ask for a weight loss drug is just rude. But, doctors are only human and sometimes have a bad mood or are rude.
    Ich grüße Euch !
    Je vous salue !
    Greetings to you !

The doctor treated me like a dog!

That's a serious accusation. Can you elaborate? I've had bad experiences with doctors too. Who hasn't? But in the end, it also depends on the situation. An emergency doctor after a 24-hour shift will naturally be tense. So will a family doctor with a full waiting room. What's more, Wegovy is considered a fashionable drug.

The doctor treated me like a dog! I wrote this to vent my frustration. I've been with this doctor for 7 years and I was quite satisfied. When I asked him if he could prescribe Wegovy, he literally exploded. He insulted me and said: I'm not going to prescribe you a fashionable drug. Holywood starlets can inject it! It has no place in my practice. He then asked me to leave, as he had more important things to do than deal with my cosmetic problems.

I'm not diabetic, but I am overweight. At least 10 kg too much. What's more, I asked politely, I didn't demand. Perhaps he was annoyed because other patients had already asked.

I'm going to go back and see him now and try to clarify the situation. Perhaps he's ill or simply overwhelmed by events. Doctors can burn out too!

            sorry

People who take other people's medicines because they're indiscriminately gorging themselves, I'd throw them out too. The doctor was absolutely right!
Wegovy was designed as a medicine for diabetics, not for 'eaters'!

The discussion has probably gone a bit sideways now. People, this is about the drug Wegovy
and not about the behaviour of a single doctor!

I have seen a friend of mine use the syringe. Clean thing ! Tiny needle. No problem even for people who don't like injections!

She has lost 8 kg - great! If there is enough of the drug, everyone for whom it is indicated should get it. At the moment there are probably supply problems in some countries / regions.

Wegovy, like penicillin, cortisone or Viagra, will open a new door. As always, when something new comes along, there are skeptics.

If Wegovy keeps his promises, some diet manufacturers and distributors will be in trouble. No more brutal starvation! A little injection and it's all over
We also eat less. With wegovy, about 30%. That's the amount we usually eat. For the manufacturers of chocolate, Macdo etc., this means major losses. But they know how to cope and are simply raising prices.

You mean the price of food was increased to compensate for the losses due to Wegovy?

What I have noticed is the increased advertising for diets. I conclude from this that Wegovy is a real competitor for all the powders and clever advice on losing weight.

Many doctors see obesity as a weakness of character. So, no way with wegovy, although it is probably the only remedy that really works. I also saw a doctor who played around when I wanted to be prescribed wegovy. Well, the lady has one less private patient. And I probably won't recommend her to anyone else either...rather the opposite.
I think, especially if you pay for the medication yourself, are overweight and have diabetes, then Wegovy would probably be indicated. Or would it?

Yesterday there was a report about Wegovy on TV: three sentences about Wegovy, the rest drivel! The famous information from the state is no longer what it used to be.

The situation with Wegovy / Ozempic has eased somewhat, but there are still doctors who consider it a "beauty drug". In addition, people are reluctant to admit that health is not affordable for everyone. Wegovy costs around 300 euros per month. But you eat less in return.

But losing weight means you need new clothes.

The reports on television are not objective. The reporting on Wegovy in particular tends to be negative. Why is that? Well, if we only eat half as much and are less ill due to obesity, then some companies will make less profit.
Which report on Wegovy mentions that the drug costs 300 euros per month, but at the same time you eat significantly less. The bottom line is that the drug costs a maximum of 100 euros. If you then subtract the costs for the consequences of being overweight, you end up with a substantial profit thanks to Wegovy!
