I am afraid of getting covid and therefore I always wear a FFP2 mask indoors. This should be nothing unusual, but lately I notice more and more often that I meet with rejection with my attitude, no matter whether in the circle of friends or with my work colleagues. They all think that the worst is already over and the current virus is not bad anyway. At first they were still friendly to me, but now it happens more and more that they laugh at me because of my FFP2 mask. Not once have I heard that I should get the diaper off my face.
It is not funny for me when other people ridicule me, when all I want to do is protect myself from a serious illness. Is that so hard to understand? It would be nice if I could be granted that it is my personal decision whether I want to protect myself or not. Of course, I could go with the flow, but that would not protect me from covid infection. I am tired of having to justify that my health is important to me and I also want to protect my parents, who are already of blessed age.
Have any of you had similar experiences? How do you deal with it? Over time, this has become really grueling for me and I am already afraid to go to my job. Meeting friends is not possible for me at the moment. I am already considered mentally disturbed.
