Impact of life extension on the individual, but also on the family and society

Anti-aging that specifically aims to slow the aging process can cause a number of social and family problems.

    Economic inequality:
Access to anti-aging treatments or technologies may be limited to those who can afford it, creating a gap between the wealthy who can extend their lifespan and the less wealthy who cannot.

    Healthcare Resources:
Anti-aging research and treatment may divert resources away from other important health needs, impacting overall public health. There is concern that resources and attention focused on anti-aging might be better spent on urgent health problems such as infectious diseases and mental health.

    Economic Impact:
A population that ages more slowly or remains active and employed longer could put strain on pension systems, Social Security, and retirement plans. This could significantly disrupt traditional models of retirement and labor force dynamics and require changes in policy and labor market structures.

    Ethical Dilemmas:
Ethical concerns arise from the potential extension of life and its impact on quality of life, overpopulation, resource depletion, and the environment. Questions about the sanctity of life, the natural course of aging, and the consequences of radically extending the human lifespan pose major moral challenges.

    Resource depletion:
Should anti-aging technologies significantly extend life expectancy, this could contribute to overpopulation and deplete resources such as food, water, housing, and energy. The sustainability and carrying capacity of the Earth would be a major concern.

    Psychological and societal impacts:
A society that significantly extends human life expectancy could have psychological impacts, such as existential crises, changing family dynamics, or changing social norms and expectations about careers, education, and personal relationships.

    Dependence and social cohesion:
Significant life extension could lead to a greater number of older people potentially relying more heavily on the care and support of younger generations. This could affect the dynamics of intergenerational relationships and social cohesion.

Possible solutions : The cost of general and specifically medical care increases significantly with age. A legal relaxation of euthanasia would save a great deal of suffering and pain while easing the burden on health and pension funds.

Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and dementia patients are excluded from the possibility of voluntary death because they can no longer decide freely.

Why can't a mentally healthy person write a corresponding patient's will before the onset of the disease, which allows euthanasia from a certain irreversible and severely stressful course of the disease ? This is a very considerable legal loophole, which is probably quite deliberately not
