My neighbour wants to finish me off with the help of the police and other authorities, he's threatening me with permanent charges until I give up. As is so often the case, it's about a piece of land. But it's not a neighbourly dispute, it's about tangible financial benefits. The neighbour is desperate to have an adjacent plot of land so that his property becomes bigger. This would result in a considerable increase in the value of his property. He has only speculated with the house. He wants to sell it as quickly and as expensively as possible.
As I don't want to sell him the neighbouring property, he is putting me under pressure by all means.
He has already made two complaints to the police. They are fabricated accusations, but the police are still investigating!

My question: What should I do if the police investigate because my neighbour is making complaints for no real reason?

Hello, the neighbour is liable to prosecution under German law if he makes false statements to the police. This can result in a fine, but also a few years imprisonment.

It might be best to install cameras to record who goes onto the property. That way you have proof if he soils or damages it.

The main problem is that the police initially record everything, no matter how nonsensical it is. The police officer is not a lawyer or a doctor. So they can't determine whether the person is mentally ill or completely normal. Police officers also like to keep a low profile when it comes to legal issues. Often enough they have experienced being taken to court by a lawyer. So, they take notes diligently. Let the experts fight it out in court later.
It is the ordinary citizen who suffers.
He needs a lawyer, has to listen to nastiness and is ultimately left with the costs. In my opinion, the informers and especially those people who make the police accomplices should be confronted with all the costs. Including experts! If reporting innocent people becomes expensive, then these people will think twice about running to the police at every opportunity.
Those who have no money should be given a prison sentence. A few months without alcohol will certainly do them good!
