Not only a healthy body is important, we also have to take care of the health of mind and soul. If body, mind and soul are in harmony, our general well-being, our intelligence, our ability to concentrate and much more will improve. Mental health is the starting point for a life of balance. I share here some of my tips for mental balance.
1. Healthy sleep and breaks
Regular breaks allow the body and mind to rest and recuperate. Disturbing external stimuli should be kept to a minimum both during rest periods and when sleeping. For a restful sleep, a good sleeping climate is very important. The right room climate and no disturbances are important for regeneration during sleep.
2. exercise and sport
Sports and exercise reduce stress and balance mind and body. Endurance sports or strength training are not a must. Even walks in the forest or relaxed swimming support the recovery of body and soul.
3. Social contacts
People who maintain regular social contacts are usually more balanced and psychologically stable. A social environment of friends and family provides support and trust. But new contacts also support the balance of mind and body and promote intelligence through newly gained impressions.
4. relaxation exercises
Regular relaxation exercises such as yoga, meditation, autogenic training, breathing exercises, but also progressive muscle relaxation according to Jacobson, help to bring body and mind into deep states of relaxation. The deep inner peace frees the body from stress and restlessness. With regular use, one learns to consciously relax the body in stressful situations.
