  • Bullying because of oral hygiene, bad breath and yellow teeth

I've been working in a new position in a medium-sized company for a few weeks now. More and more often, I hear the staff talking about a colleague behind his back. They say things that I wouldn't have expected from some people. The topic is the colleague's oral hygiene. Bad breath and yellow teeth aren't particularly nice, especially when you're sitting opposite each other at your desks and have to work together all day. But what can you do about it? It's not pleasant for me either, of course, because I'm also sitting in the same room, but I think someone should tell him... Should you talk to the person concerned directly or take it to the boss? Do you have any ideas?
Thanks for your help in advance

Not all bad breath is the same. Sometimes it's just a slight whiff. But some smell like sewerage or decay. This is then not just a sensory problem, there may also be a health problem behind it: teeth, stomach, etc.
Yellow teeth are more of a visual problem. But let's be honest, if you're too lazy to brush your teeth, you might not take hygiene very seriously in general.
Talk to your colleague about it. Bad breath is not only a hygiene problem, but also a discourtesy!

Some people smell really bad from their mouths and they know it! They want to keep others at a distance. Just like some women deliberately eat garlic to keep their partner at a distance. Maybe you can do something anonymous.

Nowadays, nobody needs to smell out of their mouth. The dentist or internist can help. And there are plenty of mouthwashes and toothpastes. !

Bad breath and yellow teeth aren't very pleasant, I think. Everyone keeps their distance. It's not bullying, it's perfectly normal behavior!
