New virus mutations in southern England and South Africa worry virologists
The English virus is transmissible 70% faster than the Italian mutation of the Wuhan virus. The South African variant, which is also new, causes severe illness even in younger people. Then we have the variant that infects minks and then "jumps back" to humans.
More than 20 known mutations have already arisen from the coronavirus Sars-Cov-19 ( presumably ) originally from Wuhan. Now the big question is, how will the virus mutate in the future and will the current vaccines help then ?
In the case of influenza, it took decades until the annual vaccination was effective against the majority of the current virus strains.
Is the same debacle now threatening Corona ?
Also alarming, those vaccinated should continue to wear masks. Why ? Because of solidarity ? Or because the vaccination does not provide sufficient immunization against all Corona strains ?
Why are there no flu statistics this year ?
Official answer, the number of flu patients is too low.
