Emergency, food rationing, curfews, triage, what else can we expect in the corona crisis?

We've been hit hard! The Coronavirus is raging through the world. And already we have to reckon with measures that we only knew from disaster movies so far.

Bavaria declares a state of emergency. Other federal states will surely follow. What does this mean?

In case of an emergency the German Federal Armed Forces can be used against their own people. Or the oil can be pumped out of the tank in the cellar. (Please read if there is any doubt about my statement).

The border between Germany and France was closed very quickly when the French came across the Rhine to buy food. Gone were the days of European solidarity. Everybody is next to himself !

Food rationing was only known in Germany in times of crisis. Now it is time again. But this time not the "bad Russian" but the "bad Chinese virus" is the reason.
So far there were only relatively emphatic recommendations in different supermarkets. But I can reassure the optimists among you: The food stamps are already printed. Also emergency money. It's already in the government vaults.

Curfew, actually no problem, but what happens if we don't respect it? We will be accompanied home by a friendly policeman. Or is there a hefty fine, alternatively imprisonment? Prison of course only after the crisis, because in the times of Corona the prisons are rather relieved a bit or prisoners are released.

Triage means in medical jargon: selection of sick or injured persons according to the principle of survivability. So anyone who has only a slim chance of survival is put aside for the time being. This is already bitter reality in Italy. A 90 year old has hardly any chance of being given artificial respiration. Respirators are becoming increasingly scarce as the number of infected people increases. So the choice has to be made.

This is not intended to be a statement against government measures. They are, especially in Germany, predominantly reasonable and absolutely necessary. Compared to other countries such as Italy, Spain and also France, Germany has so far reacted better and faster. The number of deaths is the best proof of this.

Therefore, this contribution is not intended to be a scolding of the authorities, but to make it clear to people who believe they can face this disaster with wit and chutzpah that the situation is serious. Deadly serious!
